《陈国达全集》的出版,是我国地球科学文献史上值得庆贺的一件大事。它是著名地质学家陈国达七十余年,不畏艰辛坚持以野外地质调查为本,遵循“继承不泥古,发展不离新”理念,独立思考自主创新的历史记录和科学总结,是在中国和世界地球科学发展史上占有重要位置的科学遗产之一;是中国科学家对世界地球科学作出的贡献之一,为中国地球科学赢得了荣誉。

陈国达是二十世纪对推进我国地球科学振兴发展,使之立于世界地球之林,作出突出贡献的杰出代表之一。陈国达对大陆内部后克拉通造山区的发现;及其对陆内造山区造山-造盒构造、岩浆及变质作用和多因复成矿作用进行的开拓性工作;及在此基础上原始自主创立的地洼学说或活化构造及成矿理论,被国际地学界公认是一项最新的大地构造与成矿学理论,并形成国际性学派和被纳入国际地科联矿床成因协会矿床大地构造委员会的研究领域。

陈国达发现并论述大陆岩石内部的活化造山区,现已成为当代大陆动力学前沿研究的关键性课题,并促进了诸如:大陆基底层析成象、宽带性能电磁感应技术,数学模拟系统和岩石形成时间及深度的同位素系统、高分辨率地质年代技术、PTt史热动力学方法等的应用与发展。大陆内部造山区的动力学研究,正在成为检验板块构造理论的试金石,为后板块时代地球科学的重大变革开辟了途径。陈国达对板块构造理论局限性,于1992年作出《壳体构造》及论述,把全球岩石圈的演化与运动加以统一研究,代表了从历史-动力学综合理论大地构造学探索与开拓全球构造的一种创新道路。

陈国达既是把理论大地构造学与找矿生产实践兼容并重和合二为一学术路线的倡导者、奠基人;同时也是历史-动力学大地构造与成矿学新领域的开拓者与实践者。

陈国达被公认为是中国20世纪100名论著最具国际影响的科学家之一。《陈国达全集》内容广泛,形式多样,除对理论大地构造学和成矿学的卓越贡献,尚包括在构造地质学、地震学、地貌学、古植物学、构造地球化学、多因复成矿床等等,多种传统地质学科与新兴学科上的建树,以及对中国新、老红色岩系研究上的突出贡献。此外,陈国达作为著名的教育家和社会活动家,尤为强调以地球科学研究的目的,是准确地了解认识自然,掌握自然规律,服务生产和发展国民经济,为人民谋利益。因此,《陈国达全集》中,尚包括有反映其哲学思想与方法和求真务实科学态度方面的经验总结,其中强调了对前人的理论都要一分为二,根据实践检验加以修正,并勇于创新发展它;主张重视野外实地观察,宏观与微观相结合获取让人信服的论据,忽视野外调查之风不宜效仿;强调运用历史唯物主义和自然辩证法的思想方法和重视辩证思维在科学创新实践中的重要指导意义和作用;突出强调面向国民经济密切联系生产进行科学创新发展的学术路线特色等;从诸多方面为中国地球科学界的年青一代作出了榜样。

《全集》既是留给年青一代的宝贵科学遗产,也是珍贵的精神遗产。
